If you go to the USD library homepage (, click on the Databases tab. One option would be to limit the databases by subject in the drop down box. This will show you databases specific to that subject.  For example, you could limit to Philosophy.  I would recommend using Humanities International Complete or Philospher's Index databases. Another option would be to utilize multi-subject databases such as Academic Search Premier or Proquest Research Library. You may also have some luck in the Psychology databases, such as PsycINFO. You could use any of the terms you mentioned to search (i.e., Utilitarianism, Libertarianism, Deontological) as well as key words for specific topics you want to search. Once you type these terms into the search bar, you can limit your results to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals and by publication date if you want. For most of the databases I recommended, this can be done along the left-hand side of the screen.
